THE ANNUAL JUNETEENTH PRAYER BREAKFAST MARKS THE OFFICIAL BEGINNING OF A DAY, AND A MOVEMENT, DEDICATED TO ADVANCING FREEDOM FOR ALL.

EQUITAS mobilizes faith communities to serve with compassion, integrity, and vision for the collective well-being of our region. We believe that genuine transformation happens when the church moves beyond its walls bringing churches, faith leaders, nonprofits, and community partners together to move from good intentions to measurable, lasting change.
Grounded in the gospel of Jesus Christ, EQUITAS lives out Micah 6:8 and Luke 4:18–19 through both word and deed partnering inclusively across faith and community sectors to pursue justice, dignity, and restored opportunity for all people in Pierce County.
Vision
A collaborative partnership between faith communities and leaders rooted in unity, action, and transformation.
Mission
To mobilize collective urgency across faith-led partnerships to confront social and economic inequities and create safe, just, and transformative outcomes.
Our region faces deeply rooted challenges that no single organization can solve alone. Faith communities remain among the most trusted institutions in our neighborhoods and EQUITAS exists to coordinate, equip, and mobilize those assets for unified, sustainable engagement.
Growing income gaps leave families without a path to financial stability.
Affordable housing shortages affect thousands across Pierce County.
Unequal access to quality education limits opportunity from childhood.
Families struggle to meet basic nutritional needs in our own backyard.
Systemic barriers block access to living-wage careers and advancement.
Fragmented support systems leave the most vulnerable without a safety net.
Every initiative EQUITAS leads is anchored in one of five strategic focus areas each reflecting our commitment to justice, dignity, and transformative community change.
Equipping the next generation of civic and faith leaders through mentorship, training, and opportunity.
Building pathways to financial independence through entrepreneurship, job readiness, and wealth-building programs.
Coordinating holistic care from housing referrals to emergency support so no neighbor falls through the cracks.
Mobilizing churches and faith leaders to engage policymakers and advocate for justice across Pierce County.
EQUITAS moves with intentionality from laying governance foundations to launching programs that transform lives. Here is how we advance the mission, step by step.
Establishing transparent governance, forming a diverse board of community leaders, and securing sustainable funding partnerships to ensure accountability and long-term credibility.
Convening Faith & Community Roundtables, building a shared referral network, and formalizing collaborations with churches and nonprofits across Pierce County.
Activating civic leadership workshops, youth mentoring, workforce readiness training, financial literacy seminars, and coordinated housing, food, and emergency referrals.
Training faith leaders in nonpartisan civic engagement, engaging policymakers on housing and economic equity, and hosting a landmark Faith & Justice Summit in Tacoma.
These core values are not aspirational slogans they are the daily commitments that shape how EQUITAS shows up in our community.
We believe faith without works is incomplete. Every program, partnership, and initiative is an expression of living faith made visible.
We are committed to addressing root causes not just symptoms and pursuing systemic change that restores dignity and expands access.
No single church or organization can do this alone. We are stronger together, and our model is built on the power of unified action.
We hold ourselves accountable to our partners, our community, and our calling with clear communication and responsible stewardship.
We equip people to lead their own transformation building capacity, not dependency, in every community we serve.
"We believe faith communities are uniquely positioned to restore dignity, expand opportunity, and pursue measurable justice in our region."
— EQUITAS Leadership
EQUITAS exists to unite faith, justice, and action for the transformation of Tacoma and Pierce County. This is not a traditional organizational launch. This is a call to the church to every pastor, elder, deacon, lay leader, and believer who senses that now is the moment to act.
We believe that faith communities carry something no government program or social agency can replicate: genuine trust, deep roots, and a vision rooted in love for neighbor. When those assets are coordinated and focused, the result is transformation that endures.
EQUITAS is actively assembling the partnerships, resources, and community infrastructure needed to launch with lasting impact. Here is where we stand right now:

Finalizing governance, staffing, and program infrastructure so EQUITAS is ready to serve with excellence from the start.
